It will go out to 100,000 beta testers tomorrow (Wednesday, September 30th, 2009).</p>
<p>Google Wave is unique because its platform is combining elements from many different online communication tools into one place. Things such as blogs, photo/video sharing, chats, email, documents, etc, will be all streaming in one fluid conversation, or a &#8220;wave&#8221; as Google likes to call it.</p>
<p>This web application was displayed at the Google I/O developer conference in San Francisco, back in May. If you have a spare 1 hour and 20 minutes, you can watch it here.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/v_UyVmITiYQ&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/v_UyVmITiYQ&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>The Google team in charge of this project see this as something that will become as main stream as Google itself. To quote one of the creators Jens Rasmussen:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;This should be something everybody uses and something everybody knows&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>If you read tech blogs, you noticed the <a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=google+wave&amp;hl=en&amp;safe=off&amp;rlz=1B3GGGL_enUS338US286&amp;tbo=1&amp;site=mbd&amp;tbs=cdr%3A1%2Ccd_min%3A09%2F28%2F2009%2Ccd_max%3A09%2F29%2F2009" target="_blank">hustle and bustle around this topic today</a>. Many of us want to be part of this beta group but trust me, it is a tight and sealed group at this point. If you&#8217;re not in yet forget about it, maybe next time! <img src='http://www.seosurvivor.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Wave has been described as &#8220;<em>dripping with ambition</em>&#8221; and as a &#8220;<em>new communication platform for a new Web.</em>&#8221; from places such as <a href="http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/09/29/google-wave-starts-rolling-picks-up-over-100000-new-riders/" target="_self">TechCrunch</a>.</p>
<p>More to come on this&#8230; Are you a beta tester? Tell us what you think!</p>

<p>The winning idea (or up to 5 winning ideas) gets $10,000,000 funding from Google.</p>
<p>Initially Google said that they would choose individual ideas, but they received such an overwhelming response that they decided to go for themes instead. And now, that those themes have been selected, Google is asking you and me to go to their site and vote for the best ideas!</p>
<p>Voting ends on October 8, so <a title="Google Project 10^100" href="http://www.project10tothe100.com/vote.html">go vote</a> if this is something that resonates with you!</p>

That was a big change, but not as big a change as what&#8217;s about to come. </p>
<p>Universal Search blended results from multiple databases such as images, videos, news, etc. You&#8217;ve seen it, here&#8217;s an example below: </p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2075/3527232206_e959cf1337.jpg" alt="Google Universal Search" width="400" height="365" /></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">What&#8217;s about to happen is an even deeper blending of information, and the end-user will have more options to filter and find more of what they like and less of what they don&#8217;t like.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The full story can be found at <a href="http://www.dullest.com/blog/google-searchology-2009-search-options-google-squared-rich-snippets/">Dullest.com&#8217;s blog</a>, and we should start seeing this roll out in bits and pieces during the next several weeks.</p>
<div class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 150px">
	<img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2423/3526433123_60c8e917e5_m.jpg" alt="Google Dance" width="150" height="240" />
	<p class="wp-caption-text">Image courtesy from http://www.dns.com.tw/</p>
</div>
<p style="text-align: left;">This Dance will make many SEOs out there re-think the way they build their strategies and <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">drive</span> force them to optimize for the various channels from where data will be pulled from.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This could result in a greater amount of spam control in sites like YouTube, and directories from Google such as Google Local. Unfortunately not all SEOs are nice and create relevant, useful and positive content&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">With that said, this is a change for the better and I&#8217;m personally looking forward to this new environment &#8211; better catered to the end-user. </p>
<p style="text-align: left;">There will be more and more details coming about in the following weeks, but make no mistake that it&#8217;s coming <img src='http://www.seosurvivor.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

Besides all of the technical stuff that will be discussed there, the awesome networking opportunities and Search Engine representatives, it&#8217;s VEGAS baby, and you can&#8217;t go wrong with Vegas! (But you CAN, you CAN go REALLY WRONG with Vegas! hahahhaah)</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Plus I&#8217;ve been doing pretty well with my little Blackjack game in my iPhone, and that could mean disaster when I get to Vegas and reality slaps me in the face!</p>

I&#8217;m personally surprised at how fast this deal came together, though the talk has been around for a while.</p>
<p>What does this mean?</p>
<p>Read <a href="http://www.google.com/dclk/messaging.html" rel="nofollow" title="Google Announces DoubleClick purchase" target="_blank">Google&#8217;s Announcement about the purchase</a> to get your questions and doubts answered, or at least somewhat humored. <img src='http://www.seosurvivor.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Meanwhile we wait to see <a href="http://www.doubleclick.com/products/dfa/index.aspx" rel="nofollow" title="DART Tags" target="_blank">DART tags</a> implemented into the Google Content Network, among other new features that will certainly pop up in the near future.</p>
<p>I feel for any layoff victims, since there may be some <a href="http://searchengineland.com/080311-155745.php" title="DoubleClick layoffs" target="_blank">DoubleClick layoff</a> soon. Google will probably opt to reduce DoubleClick&#8217;s headcount to match its current business structure. The word on the street is that this is supposed to be done by sometime in April.</p>
