It will go out to 100,000 beta testers tomorrow (Wednesday, September 30th, 2009).

Google Wave is unique because its platform is combining elements from many different online communication tools into one place. Things such as blogs, photo/video sharing, chats, email, documents, etc, will be all streaming in one fluid conversation, or a “wave” as Google likes to call it.

This web application was displayed at the Google I/O developer conference in San Francisco, back in May. If you have a spare 1 hour and 20 minutes, you can watch it here.

The Google team in charge of this project see this as something that will become as main stream as Google itself. To quote one of the creators Jens Rasmussen:

“This should be something everybody uses and something everybody knows”

If you read tech blogs, you noticed the hustle and bustle around this topic today. Many of us want to be part of this beta group but trust me, it is a tight and sealed group at this point. If you’re not in yet forget about it, maybe next time!

Wave has been described as “dripping with ambition” and as a “new communication platform for a new Web.” from places such as TechCrunch.

More to come on this… Are you a beta tester? Tell us what you think!

The winning idea (or up to 5 winning ideas) gets $10,000,000 funding from Google.

Initially Google said that they would choose individual ideas, but they received such an overwhelming response that they decided to go for themes instead. And now, that those themes have been selected, Google is asking you and me to go to their site and vote for the best ideas!

Voting ends on October 8, so go vote if this is something that resonates with you!

In the last year we all saw the Universal Search feature change the way people search in Google. That was a big change, but not as big a change as what’s about to come.

Universal Search blended results from multiple databases such as images, videos, news, etc. You’ve seen it, here’s an example below:

What’s about to happen is an even deeper blending of information, and the end-user will have more options to filter and find more of what they like and less of what they don’t like.

The full story can be found at Dullest.com’s blog, and we should start seeing this roll out in bits and pieces during the next several weeks.

This Dance will make many SEOs out there re-think the way they build their strategies and drive force them to optimize for the various channels from where data will be pulled from.

This could result in a greater amount of spam control in sites like YouTube, and directories from Google such as Google Local. Unfortunately not all SEOs are nice and create relevant, useful and positive content…

With that said, this is a change for the better and I’m personally looking forward to this new environment – better catered to the end-user.

There will be more and more details coming about in the following weeks, but make no mistake that it’s coming

If you have any questions, drop me a comment and check the “Notification” box so you know when I answered

PubCon is put together by WebmasterWorld, home of some of the coolest threads in the Search Engine Marketing world. Not THE coolest because there are other places just as resourceful, but I do listen to the buzz at WebmasterWorld daily. Besides all of the technical stuff that will be discussed there, the awesome networking opportunities and Search Engine representatives, it’s VEGAS baby, and you can’t go wrong with Vegas! (But you CAN, you CAN go REALLY WRONG with Vegas! hahahhaah)

Plus I’ve been doing pretty well with my little Blackjack game in my iPhone, and that could mean disaster when I get to Vegas and reality slaps me in the face!

I’m personally surprised at how fast this deal came together, though the talk has been around for a while.

What does this mean?

Read Google’s Announcement about the purchase to get your questions and doubts answered, or at least somewhat humored.

Meanwhile we wait to see DART tags implemented into the Google Content Network, among other new features that will certainly pop up in the near future.

I feel for any layoff victims, since there may be some DoubleClick layoff soon. Google will probably opt to reduce DoubleClick’s headcount to match its current business structure. The word on the street is that this is supposed to be done by sometime in April.

As mentioned on my last entry, I wrote a post for the eVisibility Insider about the use of nofollow tags. That post has received awesome feedback, and I’m very happy to see that the SEO community embraced it the way they did.
We even made it to the homepage of Sphinn, check out the screenshot:

For a lot of the big players out there, that’s nothing to be bragging about. But being fairly new in the SEO industry, and holding a full time job that keeps me busy, I certainly see this as an accomplishment.

Thank you ImNotADoctor (I have links to this guy on my sidebar, so make sure you check his site out), for getting the word out and submitting that post!

SEO Roundtable’s Tamar also mentioned our post and that definitely put a smile in my face. My buddies who went to the SMX West last week were telling me that she’s great in person, and I’m grateful to receive good feedback from her

According to Bloomberg News, Google and AT&T have had a chat or two about AT&T joining Google’s Android mobile software movement. This is good news for all AT&T users if it goes through, since when Google announced that they were going to open their doors for different carries to use their open source software, AT&T and Verizon were the only two not invited to the party. Maybe they just didn’t invite themselves, I’m not sure which statement is more accurate.

Ralph de la Vega, AT&T’s CEO, said that AT&T is “analyzing the situation” and could end up using Google’s open source software for their phones during an interview on Friday. Details? Oh you wanted details? Sorry, no details. Ralph excused the lack of details by saying he hasn’t personally met with Google… yet!

Google made the big announcement that it would work with other companies to fully develop their open source software for mobile phones on November 5th. Amongst the 33 companies that made up this alliance, the big ones are T-Mobile, Nextel and Sprint.

I can’t even imagine how far they will take this, but I’m sure everyone will be happy with the kick ass phones we’ll see as a byproduct of this. The users will be happy with all of their new phones and features, the advertisers will be happy serving ads through new means, the wireless carriers will be happy by selling more phones, and did I forget anybody? Oh yes, Google will be very happy and maybe set out to buy the moon next. (I bet they already have the money to do so)
