Traffic, Conversions and Call to Action

by seosurvivor on November 19, 2007

I thought I’d put a short, yet good reference about Traffic, Conversions and Call to Action.

Traffic, Conversions and Call to ActionToday I had to explain the difference to a client that just didn’t understand his website could be producing exponentially more. He has a ton of traffic, 20K+ a month. All organic and from referring sites. The guy spends ZERO on Paid Search and makes a good living from his site.

His main problem is that the Call to Action is very poor. Call to action is something that encourages your prospect consumers to take a step in the direction of the purchase of a product or service. They actively engage you to get that, by feeling “called to act” on it.

Traffic by itself will generate some results, it’s a mathematical formula. Eyes on your site + Sales tool used = predicted results.  The variable here is the call to action factor, that once included in this formula can change things around quite a bit.

Call to ActionThere’s much to know about this topic, and I highly recommend the book Call to Action for all of you out there who would like to know more.

In my judgment, a  wise use of this knowledge, plus relentless tracking and tweaking will assure a positive increase in conversions for most internet businesses out there.

Make sure you have Google Analytics setup (duh! – you’d be surprise how many people don’t take advantage of this), and check out some other cook tracking tools such as the one offered by Crazy Egg.

Alright boys and girls, have fun!
